This is a fictional story that I wrote in Term 3. It tells the story of a young boy who goes on a challenging adventure to save his good friend, Milo and his priceless crown. Along the way, he overcomes difficult obstacles and meets a lot of unique characters. Writing this story was very amusing but also a bit challenging. I found that trying to think of new and creative storyline ideas was a very difficult task to do. I think that I could possibly use better adjectives and explain my characters better the next time I write a story.

What Makes A Good Teacher

What Makes A Good Teacher

To be a good teacher, one must have good skills, attitudes and qualities. There are different values of skills, attitudes and qualities. Some skills are being able to communicate with students and parents and other staff, being able to clearly explain their teaching to the students and being organized. A good teacher needs to be loyal and dependable. Qualities that a good teacher must need is encouraging, patient and supportive to the students’ learning.

There are many skills that are compulsory for a good teacher. One skill is being able to clearly explain their teaching for students to understand. This skill is one of the most important skills because a good teacher must be able to teach and help students understand their learning so with that the teacher must clearly explain just in case the students can’t understand. Another skill that a good teacher requires is being organized for the class. Being organized is a very important skill because if the teacher is unprepared for the class, students wouldn’t be in the right place at the right time and it would be a waste of time that they could use to improve their learning. Also, students need to learn perseverance and organization and the teacher must be a role model for them to learn from.

In addition to having good skills, every good teacher must have the right attitudes. I think that a good teacher must be loyal and dependable. Having a teacher who has good attitudes can affect the students. Good teachers have to be loyal to their students and their teaching. I think that students would need a teacher who can teach them the value of loyalty. Students also need a teacher who is dependable because having a teacher who is dependable will help the students improve their learning. Students depend on teachers most of the time for their learning and a good teacher is always there to help and support their students learning.

Qualities that a good teacher needs are encouraging, patient and supportive. I think that a good teacher would be all of these things. As a student, having a teacher who is encouraging helps me try my best in my learning and in everything I do. I also know that a teacher who is patient and supportive will make a big impact on the students.

To conclude, having a teacher who has all these would definitely help their students with their learning. I think that Jesus was a good teacher because he had all these skills, attitudes and qualities and more.

When You Thought I Wasn't Looking

When you thought I wasn’t looking

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you tuck me in at night
and I felt precious.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I heard you say goodbye to me when I left
and I felt loved.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you get up early even though you were tired,
and I learnt that I should put others before myself.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I heard you worry about my health
and I knew that there was always someone watching over me.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you give money to a less fortunate person,
and I knew that I should be kind to others.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you buy me new clothes instead of buying clothes for yourself,
and I learnt that sometimes you have to sacrifice some things for love.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you sneak fruit into my lunch,
and I knew you cared about my well-being.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I heard you forgive me after we fought,
and I learnt how to forgive others too.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I looked…
and I wanted to say thank you for all the things
I saw when you thought I wasn’t looking!

Conquering Balance Island

Conquering Balance Island

“Maranita, you can go first!” Mrs. Kopua said as I stared straight at the two ropes that could possibly cause me to fall into the freezing lake.
I looked at my friend with longing eyes. “Unnie... how about you go first?” I asked her.
After a long time of trying to persuade her, I finally had the courage to try and complete the terrifying balance island myself. After I got on, my mind became dizzy and it felt as though a swarm of butterflies were flying all around inside my stomach. However, I started on my way.
As I looked down at my reflection in the lake, a very familiar voice screamed “GO NITA! YOU CAN DO IT!”
While I continued to try to avoid falling into the hands of the seaweed reaching out for me, Losaline continued to cheer very loudly, embarrassing me. Despite the yelling, somehow I managed to reach halfway. I looked at the end, mumbling to myself that it wasn’t far. I started on my way again, this time moving quickly. Time passed by and I finally reached the end!
I jumped off the rope victoriously and with a huge smile on my face.
“Good girl Maranita! Now walk over to the bridge and have a go on that one!” Mrs. Kopua yells.
My smile faded away as I made my way to the bridge.
‘Oh well! At least I completed the hardest one!’

Report On Oscar Romero

Oscar Romero was a very holy man. He was born in Ciudad Barrios, El Salvador on August 15th 1917. He had a big family that lived in a small home with not enough money, though they had more than most of their neighbours. As a young boy, Oscar was determined to become a priest. At the age of 14 he joined the Catholic priesthood. In the year 1977, he became Archbishop of San Salvador. A few weeks after he became Archbishop, his friend, Rutilio Grande was brutally murdered. The death of his friend changed the way Oscar felt and thought.

After Oscar changed, he felt  an urge to change the way the poor and the oppressed were treated. He started public speaking and telling everyone about the ‘disappearances’ and murders of others. To help spread the message to everyone in El Salvador he spoke on a radio broadcast. By doing this, he gave hope to the people whose voices couldn’t be heard. While he was fighting for the oppressed and the poor, he angered the government and the rich and powerful. After some time, the government took matters in their own hands and blew up the radio broadcast headquarters. The day before Oscar died, he went to talk directly to the soldiers. He said to them “I beg you… I implore you…. I order… in the name of God, stop the repression!” The evening after, on March 24 1980, he was shot while taking a mass by an assassin who was working for the government.

The death of Oscar Romero caused many people grief and pain. Thousands of people attended his funeral. However, people died and hundreds were injured because the army opened fire at them. 12 years after his death, people found out that the ex-mayor of San Salvador, General Roberto D’Aubuisson, was the reason why Oscar Romero died. Oscar Romero was canonized on the 23rd of May 2015.

How To Use The... Toilet

How do you use the toilet properly?

Well, this may sound weird and you may think that I am crazy but it is natural for all humans to use the portaloo. Some of you may think that this topic is a bit unusual but hey, its normal for everyone to go to the bathroom.

Okay, the first thing you need to do when you are desperate to go to the ( Dramatic Sound Effect), The Throne Of Death! To ignore dying or catching disgusting germs, you MUST wipe the toilet seat or as I may call it, your ticket to get bad diseases.

Then, you pull down your … . After, you sit down in a comfortable position and finally you can use it. That is why you go there anyway!
Screenshot 2015-08-10 at 8.24.36 PM.pngSome people may think this is a bit weird but some people enjoy reading while they wait for the ghost train to come.

Once you are finished with your business, you rip some toilet paper and wipe yourself. Some people like to fold the toilet paper and others don’t really fold. Although, it is their own decision.

Finally, pull your underthings back up and flush the toilet after you are done. It is SO important that you clean up because well, others may use the same bathroom and they don't want to find a mess in there!

You're nearly free to go out to the world and be happy again. However, you have to wash your hands. It is REALLY REALLY important that you ALWAYS wash your hands after you are done. I mean, you do NOT want to get germs from the stinky dungeon.

Some countries use the toilet differently. They provide some weird features to make your experience desirable. For example: In Asia, some countries provide a T.V in each stall, how cool is that!  In America, they provide paper where people can sit on and when finished the paper can be flushed and it is biodegradable.  What do you think? Don't you think toilets are important? Keep it in mind every time you go.

This is how you make chocolate

Ingredients:

  •  Cocoa Beans
  • Milk
  • Sugar
  • Nibs
  • Lecithin
 Method:

1. The first thing you need to make chocolate is cocoa beans. These beans can be found in West Africa. They look like little footballs. Cocoa trees are found in places that are near the equator.

2. The beans are extracted and dried in the sun. Then they are shipped to different parts of the world to become chocolate.

3. When they have arrived at their final destination, the beans are blended, cleaned and then dried again. After they have dried, the shells of the cocoa bean separated from the nibs, that are inside the beans. Nibs are the main ingredient of chocolate.

4. The nibs are then grounded in a liquid cocoa mass. The liquid mass is processed to create cocoa butter and cocoa powder.

5. Dark chocolate is made by mixing all of these ingredients and more. However, White chocolate is produced without both cocoa mass and cocoa powder. It only contains cocoa butter.

6. Then milk, sugar and lecithin is added to the liquid mass and is blended together with cocoa powder and cocoa paste. Then, the mixture is put into a series of rolls. The mixture is conched to make the chocolate become glossy in a fine crystallized size.

7. Once this has finished, the chocolate goes through the last system. This particular system is called ‘conching’. Then the last ingredients are added to the mixture that goes into a big tank. There the chocolate will develop flavor.

8. Once all of this is over, the chocolate is heated through a process called ‘tempering’. Tempering heats and cools down the chocolate.

9. Finally, the chocolate is ready. The chocolate is formed into blocks and different figures. It can use different ingredients to make different types of chocolate.

My Personal Narrative - St Josaphat

Screenshot 2014-11-27 at 10.04.48 AM.pngHi my name is Josaphat, I lived a long time ago. I was a monk in the Ukrainian Greek church. I was born in a little town called Volodymyr in Lithuania in 1580.

People said I had many good qualities so I was chosen to lead the people in the year 1617 when I was 37 years old. At the age of 24 in 1604 I decided to join the Basilian Monastery of the Trinity at Vilna. I became popular and I was visited often. In 1609 I became a priest after I was a deacon. On November the 12th I became the Bishop of Vitebsk.

I had a meeting to unite the Roman church with the Orthodox church. Some people were against the unity of the churches and a mob attacked me. I was killed in 1623 November 12th.

When I came to heaven I found out I was still popular. Eastern churches including the Ukrainian church celebrate my feast day by having a big mass.

Beauty and the beast

Beauty and the beast

Do you want to know where Christ the King School went to on Friday? We went to Manukau Vodafone Centre to see a live production. This production was put on by Sancta Maria college.

The play was about a young woman who fell in love with a hideous beast. It all started when Belle's father went to a convention and had been trapped by the beast. As soon as Belle found out her father had been trapped by someone she went immediately to find him. Once she had found her father the beast showed himself to Belle. She made a brave suggestion that she would stay with the beast in her father's place forever! While she stayed her love for the beast became stronger.

I thought that the play was very well made. The characters were also very convincing. It was heartbreaking when Gaston attacked the beast, but it was romantic when Belle admitted her love for the beast.

This production is very suitable for anyone of any age. It was so much fun to watch, everyone would love it!
