Pollination
Why are bees important?  Bees are important because they are responsible for some food we eat. Tomatoes, cucumbers, squash and other vegetables require pollination from the bees and other insects. Bees are the main pollinators.

Why are bees good pollinators? Bees are great pollinators because they spend their lives collecting pollen. The hairs of a bee attracts the pollen grains through electrostatic forces. The hairs on their legs are stiff that helps them groom the pollen and carry it back to their hive. There are two ways bees collect pollen. Individual bees concentrate on one flower a time. This means that the pollen from one flower will be transferred to a different flower and will be pollinated. Many plants need this kind of pollen dispensing. Bees need a lot of energy to collect pollen.

Why do bees need flowers? Bees need the flowers for their nest. They also need flowers to help produce more babies. This only happens once every per year.
