Chile

Santiago is the capital of Chile. The full name of Santiago is Santiago de Chile. It is the largest city in Chile. The city was found in the year 1541. The exact date of when Santiago was found was February 12 1541. The founder was a Spanish conqueror named Pedro de Valdivia. Pedro de Valdivia named the city Santiago del Nuevo Extremo, in honour of St. James of Spain. The government of Chile is located in Santiago.

Chile’s population in 2013 was estimated at 17.62 million. The year after, 17,772,871 people lived in Chile. Now in 2015, Chile’s population was approximately 17 906 503 on January 1. 148 457 more from last year.

History of Chile:
Incas were the original controllers of Chile. Then, in 1541 Pedro de Valdivia found Santiago. That was when Chile was under the Spanish rule. Finally, in 1818, Chile was independent from Spain. 5 years later, in 1823, a government was formed and ruled Chile. War between Peru and Chile started at the year 1836 and ended in 1839. Chile won and they invaded Peru and took over which expanded their territory. Then, Chile fought the Pacific war with Peru and Bolivia. The war started in 1879 and ended in 1883. Nowadays, Chile is well known country for Easter Island and other attractions.
